Many people in Europe are angry at ‘the banks’. But over-powerful banks have fuelled poverty and inequality in the global South for decades. Changing the way finance works would get to the root causes of global poverty. We offer education, inspiration and strong campaign alliances to do just that.

Situation
There is anger about the way the big banks have created economic crisis in the rich world. But the impact of finance on the global South is even more serious. Through debt, tax avoidance, and speculation, global finance has fuelled inequality, instability and poverty. The impoverished world has been drained of wealth by finance, far outweighing the amount of aid ‘given’ by rich countries. Yet many people feel powerless to change this.
Solution
We can change things - but first people must be convinced of this. We will produce training and educational materials as to the damage done by finance. We will define concrete policies needed to create a financial system which puts people first (including debt audits and cancellation, progressive taxation and capital controls). We will bring people together to create strong campaigns. And we will work with others to create a movement for social change.
