Conflict Transformation - as distinct from conflict resolution or management - is relatively novel approach to contending with conflict. Many organizations working in violence- or war-affected areas, however, lack access to networks of support, particularly theoretical and policy-oriented debates about the methodologies and tools of conflict transformation. In addition, there is a lack of understanding about conflict transformation amongst a range of domestic and international actors.
The GCCT provides a platform for organizations working in the field of conflict transformation to co-operate more closely with each other, thereby catalyse the sharing of best practice between practitioners and the initiation of joint projects. The GCCT also advocates for greater support for conflict transformation efforts, and lobbies for the principles and approaches of conflict transformation to be incorporated into the policies and activities of governments/international organizations.
