Situation

Eradicating inadequate safety routes around the headquarters. In winter the access route is a mud bath and in summer is a wilderness of wild plants. This escape route limitation is seen as a deterrent for community groups wishing to use the building due to their risk assessments of limitations for wheelchair users and pushchair users.

Solution

The centre property team have researched the best solution for establishing a hardcore pavement around the centre. The preferred option is tarmacadam surfacing with extensive ground preparations. The preparations include major weed clearance and widening of corner turning points. A consultation with centre users has ensured that their needs are met in the project design brief.
