Together we can improve the lives of those living with dementia and their carers. Our community project improves wellbeing through reminiscence/sensory activities and provides respite support to the carer. We enable a window of connection, participation, trigger memories and reduce isolation.
It ran from 12:00 PM, 28 November 2017 to 12:00 PM, 5 December 2017

Caring for someone with dementia puts a huge strain on the carer’s physical and mental health as well as straining, at times to breaking point, the relationships with other family members. Carers of people with dementia feel socially isolated and struggle from lack of appropriate support and respite to enable them to keep caring for their loved one at home. There is also a lack of appropriate and stimulating recreational activities for people with dementia.
The Time for You project will provide a regular respite for carers, as well as an engaging recreational activity for the person with dementia. The support from our trained Dementia Care Support Workers will enable the family carer to continue to care well for their loved one at home. Regular respite breaks are known to improve both physical and mental health of a carer. By supporting carers early on the wellbeing of both the carer and the cared for is significantly improved.
