Gabrieli Consort & Players

Gabrieli Residency at Spitalfields Festival 2012

As Associate Artists in the Spitalfields Festival in June 2012, Gabrieli will present concerts representative of a range of the ensemble’s repertoire. In our 30th anniversary year, we are raising funds in order to enable this project to happen as the focal point of Gabrieli’s celebrations in 2012.

Situation

At a time when many UK arts organisations are facing reductions in their income, the artistic ambitions of both Gabrieli and Spitalfields Music are hampered by financial pressures. In order to make the collaboration with Spitalfields Music a worthy focal point of Gabrieli’s 30th anniversary and to achieve our joint artistic aims, there is a need to build this project which will ensure the continuation of high-quality performances of classical music in the UK.

Solution

The project solves the problem by working collaboratively with Spitalfields Music to develop a substantial Gabrieli residency at the festival in 2012, & to pool the funds required to programme larger events which will have a bigger impact than otherwise possible. The residency will include not only performances reflecting the diversity of Gabrieli’s programmes but also outreach activity based around the programmes.
