Location

  • My experience at the RCM has been nothing short of inspiring -- we are constantly learning to become better communicators through music. The best thing about this place must be the people: the staff and students are all so supportive and lovely, on top of being incredible musicians.

    — John Lee, Bass-Baritone

  • Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine studying at the RCM and living in London would be possible. I have grown drastically both musically and personally in a very short period. Being here has and will keep touching my life forever...

    — Hayat Selim, Composer for Screen

  • RCM has been so welcoming and has given me many opportunities to develop as a person and as a musician. The warm, supportive atmosphere is perfect for our intense College schedules. With such a high standard of teaching and music making, we are constantly inspired every day.

    — Ashby Mayes, Bassoonist

Situation

Music tuition is expensive, as is the cost of living in London. The financial pressures on RCM students are acute and rising tuition fees deter many hugely talented students from applying. Our students have the ability and ambition to become the leading musicians of the next generation and to contribute fully to the worldwide musical community. A lack of financial support for music students will, in time, drastically affect the cultural impact that music and the wider arts have on our society.

Solution

We believe no student should be denied a music education for want of funds. Generations of RCM students have gone on to have stellar careers, but were only able to embark on their studies through generous gifts from supporters. The RCM Scholarship Fund provides talented students, irrespective of their backgrounds, the opportunity to complete their studies without financial worries; this is vital if the RCM is to nurture and develop the very best musical talent in the future.
