Situation
The Bush Theatre is London Theatre of the Year (Stage Awards 2011) and celebrates its 40th Anniversary in 2012. It reaches this milestone in a new home in the Old Shepherds Bush Library on the Uxbridge Road. With a new Artistic Director and 3 new spaces to animate the Bush must continue to lead in the creation of new work and new writing whilst also occupying a larger venue with greater running costs. Currently we are unable to create enough work to regularly programme all three of our spaces.
Solution
The Artistic Director's Creation Fund will allow Madani Younis and his creative team to research, develop and pioneer new work and new artists.The seed fund will allow the Bush to expand its vision and to create work for its studio and attic spaces which are currently under used. Madani will stage young artists who have not yet had a voice at the Bush. His vision includes giving the Bush a national and international profile and exploring the creation of work with other art forms such as film.
