This campaign has now closed

Illegal hunting continues in Cameroon and more orphans are arriving in desperate need of care. We are currently hand-rearing 4 infant chimpanzees who have lost their families. It will cost £20,000 to buy milk, fruit and vegetables, medicines and pay for their carers and vets for the next year.

    Situation

The illegal hunting of great apes in Cameroon continues unabated. Adult gorillas and chimpanzees are slaughtered for their meat and their youngsters are taken for the illegal pet trade. The infants rarely survive, but the lucky few arrive on our doorstep, as did tiny baby chimp Jenny a few weeks ago. On arrival, the young animals need 24/7 care from our experienced team of vets and caregivers.

    Solution

The project will raise enough money to pay for food, medical care and salaries for our primate keepers so that our youngest orphans continue to receive excellent care.
