Almeida Participation focuses primarily on the young people of Islington and its surrounding boroughs. Islington has the second highest level of child poverty in London and more than one in eight experience a mental health condition. We aim to extend the range of young people we currently engage with by breaking down barriers to access – demonstrating to young people that getting involved in theatre can be fun and inspiring, and that the cost of the ticket is not a concern.

Almeida Participation believes that it is important to support young people with quality arts provision to ensure that we are reaching everyone – not just those who are already committed; and to ensure that our work is accessible for a diverse range of young people. We aim to work with over 3,000 young people a year to inspire, challenge and engage them as audience members, participants and theatre makers; creating opportunities that work to increase confidence, communication and team-work.
