Situation

Children in the UK face serious social issues. Sport has been proven to help children face these issues and become leaders themselves. Sport can work in disadvantaged areas where the children and young people face a wide variety of social problems inc. gang membership, crime, drugs and anti-social behaviour. Often coaches, teachers and leaders in grassroots sports programmes and development work in these areas don't have the necessary skills or training to deal with these issues using sport.

Solution

Laureus want to make a bigger difference to children's lives by training community members and staff to be Sport for Good coaches, increasing our reach and further improving the skills of trained staff. We want to increase the number of coaches, young leaders and project staff using sport to tackle social issues and inspire young people. To do this we will fund effective and proven training to over 300 coaches in the UK.
