Location

Situation

The Barn Theatre and recording studio is a mixed use space mainly used for teaching drama, dance, audio recording and music. The recording studio is used by students who work towards their accredited music qualifications. We have identified some issues with wheelchair accessibility, outdated and broken equipment, and some opportunities to expand learning opportunities to our students further. Lighting is poor in both spaces - it is not energy efficient and is potentially dangerous.

Solution

As a performing arts college, our recording studio and barn theatre are integral teaching spaces. The upgraded spaces will better suit the needs of our learners as they work towards Music awards as part of their curriculum. They will have access to industry standard equipment which they can learn to use safely and develop a wide range of employability skills. We hope that the technical support our students learn to provide will help them gain work placements within the industry..
