    Situation

Youth unemployment remains stubbornly high, often at 4x that of the unemployment figure for those over 25. The Prince's Trust is keen to ensure that disadvantaged young people are not left behind and are given the opportunity to succeed and thrive. This often includes broadening their horizons and raising their aspirations to include self-employment as an option which they may not have previously dreamt possible.

    Solution

The Enterprise programme has a proven track record with over 80,000 business start ups launched since 1983. Our ‘Trust in Business’ report confirms that sustainability rates amongst Prince’s Trust start-up businesses are extremely high. More than 76% of Trust supported businesses are still trading after two years and 73% after three years. The social return on investment ratio for the programme is estimated to be for every £1 spent, £4.31 in social value is generated.
