Please support this vital new service within our Therapy and Assessment Department, whereby we will be able to provide telephone support to parents and school teachers between 9am - 5pm weekdays, with the specific aim of helping those in crisis situations who need instant help to support a child.

Situation

The project will support children with conditions including adhd, autism & downs syndrome as well as parents and carers at their wits ends, not knowing which way to turn and how best to support their child. It will also help parents/carers on our waiting list, which is currently 4 months long. School teachers & teaching assistants often come across emergency situations within schools when supporting children with learning difficulties or behavioural issues often needing instant help and advice.

Solution

We propose to recruit an apprentice as an Associate Therapist to develop within our charity. This recruit will take the lead role on the bibic support & advice line and be the first point of contact for desperate parents/carers and school staff looking for immediate support. The Associate Therapist will provide any immediate help that he/she can, but for more involved or serious issues refer the case to our Therapy Team. The bibic line will be provided free of charge.
