    Situation

Over the last ten years more than 1250 people have been killed on the roads in Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire. The emotional and practical needs of road victims (including witnesses) are similar to victims of murder or manslaughter. If unsupported road victims can suffer long-term problems including, ill-health, anxiety, depression, stress disorders and other persistent mental health problems. The early intervention of emotional and practical support gives hope to those in need.

    Solution

The project addresses the lack of statutory support for road victims . By providing free emotional and practical support, through professional Clinical staff and specialist trained Counselling Volunteers, road victim beneficiaries will experience improved well-being and reduced psychological problems. The early intervention of RVT specialist services will allow victims to begin to adjust and cope with life post collision.
