    Situation

We have seen a dramatic increase in demand to take in and care for dogs, some with severe physical and mental injuries. An increasing number of greyhounds are coming to the charity after retiring from the racing tracks, whilst others are abandoned at the pound or with dog wardens – often because owners hit by recession are no longer able to care for them. About a quarter of GRWE’s dogs come from Ireland, where there are huge numbers of abandoned dogs but very few homes willing to care for them.

    Solution

We will provide vital veterinary care for dogs, from routine neutering and vaccination, to treatment and rehabilitation for injuries, both physical and mental. As well as providing care essential to dogs' survival and health, this will mean they are able to be re-homed to loving, permanent homes.
