Situation

we are trying to ensure all our trainees have access to and are able to use the correct equipment in the wood turning room as this is one of many activities offered at Street Forge. It is a popular, therapeutic activity for many of those who attend our workshops. With support from our tutors, they produce saleable items which increases their knowledge and skills and provide a sense of purpose, improving their self esteem and confidence knowing they have made items good enough to sell.

Solution

We have many attend the workshops who use wheelchairs for their daily living, some being electric, bespoke to the person and large. Having expert advice with regards to the layout of the room and the availability of having lathes and other equipment, including dust extraction system being put in place, would allow all to be able to undertake this activity, not just ambulant people.
