We operate a support service for victims of Domestic Abuse in Gateshead. We would like to improve the service by enhancing the support we offer through a new group to combat the social isolation of our victims and invest in training for staff and volunteers.

Situation
In 2014-15 there were 3542 domestic-related incidents reported to Police in Gateshead. During 2013/2014, 45% of the women we housed and supported had recently been a victim of domestic or sexual abuse. Along with Gateshead Local Authority we are expecting an increase in the numbers of victims being referred because of changes in the way cases are referred.
Solution
This funding will allow us to deliver an improved specialist, IDVA qualified, service for victims available for more hours, more flexibly and for a longer duration.
