  • As parents we have grown in self awareness and confidence and our children are starting to change their way of thinking. We really appreciate the help we have been given by Sandra and what's so great is that we don't feel at all judged! We still have a good way to go but now we feel it's reachable

  • It felt like I was losing my 14 year old daughter, I needed to find a way to bring her back but I didn‚Äôt know what to do. Two years on and as a result of the support from The Door I have my daughter back! Leanne and I get on much better and we spend more time together than we used to.

Situation

Behaviour and communication problems are common within families and without support can cause lasting and costly issues; young people fail to reach their potential, families suffer breakdown and future generations are impacted. Families struggle to resolve conflict and discuss issues in a calm and constructive manner. Family members can experience mental health issues. Significant numbers are from estranged families. Often issues focus around parent conflict.

Solution

Family specialists work through issues that affect home life and family relations. Interventions are tailored to meet the needs presented by each family. They facilitate real conversations that address the issues preventing the functionality of the family. Working in this way offers a semi-structred, flexible service for families. Some use the service for a matter of weeks to work on a particular issue, others continue on a long-term basis while they still have a need.
