Situation

Our lead partner Glad's House estimates that there are 3,000 street-connected children in Mombasa. Our partners in East/Southern Africa work among at least 350,000 more. These children are the most marginalised and excluded, suffering multiple traumas and violations in an environment where violence, abuse, criminality, alcohol and drug abuse are rife. They suffer discriminatory government policies, community stigma and inappropriate and uncoordinated responses.

Solution

The project will build the network of local & regional partners which is united in a child-centred, rights based approach. They will develop, share and scale Glad's House best practice supported by training from local trainers. They will also unite to influence government policy and reduce discrimination within their communities. StreetInvest will support this network with data and research, training, advocacy, capacity building and M&E as part of our existing global network on 4 continents.
