Situation
There is great deal of stress on a family unit coping with a child with severe disability. This can lead to a sense of isolation, sadness and at times depression, feeling disconnected from the community. The impact is felt across the whole family.
Solution
We help families to develop coping strategies which will enable them to collectively face the challenges of the ill child's diagnosis, treatment and prognosis. Our Therapeutic Recreation programme has proven to increase the self-esteem, confidence and resilience of not only the child with the illness, but also their siblings and parents. We give the families an opportunity to relax and care for themselves whilst at camp. For many of our families, this will be the only holiday they get.
