People living in rural areas do not enjoy the same access to live, professional arts as those living in the cities. Over the 30 years since Pentabus was created the rural demographic has changed a lot with young people moving away to the cities and older people moving to the country. Access to culture via TV and internet has increased exponentially but this audience is one that appreciates live arts that are both professional and relevant.

Pentabus exists to redress this imbalance between city and country by bringing live theatre and participatory projects to the heart of the countryside, performing in villages, market towns at heritage sites or even in fields. Our work reflects the lives and concerns of our audience: our mission is to pioneer engaging, provocative and surprising new work that connects people and places. Good reliable transport is essential for us to carry out this work.
