Gabrieli has established relationships with four youth choirs, supporting their ongoing work. Activities planned in 2013 will provide these choirs with the opportunity to engage with major core classical repertoire, training with Gabrieli musicians and performing at the highest level.

    Situation

Many UK youth choirs achieve incredible standards against all the odds but lack the means to perform large-scale, core repertoire works with full orchestra, leaving a huge gulf between amateur and professional music-making. The UK is known for exemplary music education but provision is variable across the country. Young singers fall victim to the lack of progression opportunities and the transition from amateur music-making to study and the professional world beyond is incredibly challenging.

    Solution

Rather than establish its own youth choir, Gabrieli has developed partnerships with four of the UK’s finest youth choirs, collaborating with their tireless directors who are often working entirely in isolation. By providing access to vocal training, exciting repertoire opportunities, guidance from Gabrieli singers and opportunities to perform with professional musicians, we can support rather than compete with the fantastic work that is already happening in this field.
