There is great poverty in Sierra Leone following the terrible civil war. Many of the women are widows and are forced to farm the land. They have very little equipment and struggle to feed their families. They need to be economic breadwinners so the children and themselves are not in danger of dying.

The farming will provide employment and help the women work themselves out of poverty. They can grow healthy food and feed their families. One mother and her two children farm a plot and from the proceeds she can afford to send her children to school. Employment one of the key factors to ending poverty.
