Situation
Being homeless is tough enough, but being alone, cold and hungry could make a desperate situation worse. Southend has high levels of deprivation and over the Christmas period, especially in the cold, HARP can cook up to 700 dinners over the 12 days of Christmas and this puts a strain on our services. If we exceed our appeal target of £7k, the money will be spent where the need is greatest.
Solution
Buy donating £10 you will be doing much more than sponsoring a Christmas dinner. People will not only be fed and watered in a warm and welcoming place, but they will have access to all of HARP's specialist staff who can address their deeper problems of coping with homelessness. HARP advise on housing, education, employment, volunteering and health services - integrating people back into society.
