This project provides school lunches for migrant children living on Thai-Myanmar border. To get an education, children from the migrant and refugee community attend learning centres that don't receive any state funding and struggle to provide the basics; learning materials, teachers, school lunches.

    Situation

The migrant community in Mae Sot, Thailand face issues of severe poverty, discrimination and exclusion from basic rights and opportunities. Many children can't attend Thai schools, so rely on migrant learning centres, which receive no funding and struggle to provide a holistic learning experience. Many children from the poorest communities do not have food to eat at home and rely on their school lunch as the only hot meal of the day. Children need good nutrition to focus, learn and grow.

    Solution

This project provides school lunches to Mae Sot's migrant learning centres. The schools will be able to provide a hot school lunch every day and 3 meals a day to boarding students. School lunches provide the nutrition and sustenance needed for children to focus on their studies and develop physically and mentally; making their educational experience more enjoyable and effective.
