Since time immemorial, the activities of humans have been taking an enormous toll on our planet. Whether out of ignorance, apathy or greed, we continue to pollute the air, overfish the seas and destroy the forests, driving species to the brink of extinction. But at A Rocha we believe there is hope because we’re learning to look at the world with new eyes: seeing the world not as a bottomless pool of resources, but as a precious gift to take care of and use wisely.
It was once said, "We care for only what we love. We love only what we know. We truly know only what we experience." That’s why we believe that getting people to engage directly with the world around them - whether that's holding a frog or planting trees - is fundamental to environmental conservation. By introducing people to the beauty of our world and the challenges it faces, we are encouraging people to develop a deeper appreciation of nature and how to help take care of it.
