Situation
Eycott Hill is 216 ha of nationally important habitat. Despite being a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), in the Lake District, the area has suffered from excessive over-grazing for many years. The habitat and the wildlife which depends on it is suffering.
Solution
If successful, we will buy this land and will manage it in the best way to protect and improve the habitat for biodiversity, wildlife and for people to visit and enjoy. By owning the land we will have total control over its management and be able to restore it for wildlife. Managing this piece of the Lake District fells as a nature reserve will enable us to show what is possible for wildlife on the fells if better management were introduced and grazing pressures reduced.
