This project builds on the eight years experience of the Windle Trust in working with the Acholi community to overcome the legacy of the LRA conflict which has deeply affected particularly the young people of the region, including orphans and abductees, by providing educational opportunity

Situation
The Lord's Resistance Army abducted many thousands of young people and terrorised the whole Acholi Region for over a decade displacing more that 1.2 million people from their homes. Education and livelihoods were totally disrupted. Many young people dropped out of education.
Solution
This project will assist 105 of the most needy young people among those affected by the LRA to obtain either diploma level qualifications or undergraduate degrees. These are the future leaders of the region and a vital resource to enable to region to recover from deep trauma. We are also supporting in parallel to this project opportunities for leadership development through postgraduate study.
