    Situation

Tanzania remains a poor country with an education system ranked 143/181. Teachers face challenging teaching environments, with an average class size of 66 and a lack of teaching resources. The standard of teaching of many teachers is very low and the capacity for teaching colleges to effectively supervise teaching practices, especially in rural areas is limited and therefore many teachers practice without adequate inspection or guidance subsequently resulting in poor teaching standards.

    Solution

Working with our 3 local Tanzanian partners with extensive experience in education, the project will work with Teacher Training colleges, Newly Qualified Teachers (NQT), existing teachers, headmasters and schools. This will increase teachers’ capacity in delivering quality education which will be regularly monitored by school inspectors who will make recommendations for further improvements. The result will be better academic results for the thousands of children benefiting from this project.
