    Situation

In the villages where we work there is a lack of suitable accommodation for teachers whose home is not within the village. Many have to live in traditional houses, without electricity or running water, or have to travel from areas further away where they can rent better accommodation. These teachers are presented with transport difficulties in reaching school, while poor living conditions lead to low levels of morale, especially amongst teachers accustomed to more urbanised standards of living.

    Solution

The house will be built to high specifications and will include electricity, running water and self-contained washrooms. Lighting will allow teachers to work in conducive conditions at night, while we will also provide desk space and storage for papers and files. It will allow teachers to stay in high-quality accommodation which will not only improve their living and working environment, but also allow them facilitate extra-curricular activities for pupils and conduct evening tuition classes.
