    Situation

Portfield School provides specialist education for 70 children with autism, of whom up to half will board, either weekly, termly or longer. An essential part of the children's holistic education are visits within the community - these include social, leisure, sport as well as educational. Additionally we aim to teach children lifeskills to equip them for later life so they can live as indepent and fulfilling life as possible.

    Solution

A minibus enables groups of students, plus accompanying staff, to be taken on planned trips in and around Dorset. These will include trips to mainstram schools for inclusion sessions, as well as recereational and social trips for those who board. Autism is a lifelong developmental disability that affects the way a person relates to the world and other people around them.
