There are more than 3 million refugees who have fled the crisis in Syria. Half are children. Families urgently need shelter, food, water, healthcare, and a way to earn an income. Medair is responding in Lebanon and Jordan identifying the most vulnerable families to assist.

    Situation

In Lebanon, there are no formal refugee camps. Families are setting up temporary settlements & random encampments on farmland. In Bekaa Valley, refugees are staying in makeshift shelters & receiving little or no assistance. In Jordan, most refugees are directed to a camp where other NGOs are working, but some families are staying in homes in host communities or are trying to survive on their own. We’re working to support host communities and refugee families who are not living in the camp.

    Solution

SHELTER - distribute shelter kits and household items to families living in tents, apartment repairs and cash distributions WATER, SANITATION & HYGIENE - improve access to clean water, construct latrines for families in tents, remove solid waste, distribute cash for hygiene materials, and promote good hygiene practices among communities. HEALTH/NUTRITION - community mobilisation and education, malnutrition screening, vaccination promotion, reproductive health care and clinic referrals
