    Situation

Classrooms are poor or non-existent, with many children trying to learn sitting on the floor of dilapidated temporary structures or under trees. Vital lessons are missed as they walk to find water before school and, when they are in class, they are often so hungry that they cannot concentrate. Poor management and a lack of community involvement lead to low standards of education. Their families are poor and many children, especially girls, drop out of school to help support their parents.

    Solution

Constructing classrooms will provide safe and secure learning environments, with children seated at proper desks. Providing sources of clean water means fewer children will miss school and, with a kitchen, the school will be able to cook lunches which will improve concentration levels. The School Management Committee and parents will be trained to support education and development, particularly of girls. Parents will be supported in their livelihoods, so they keep their children in school.
