    Situation

Rowan supports local adults with learning disability and aims to -Reduce loneliness and social isolation -Increase self-confidence and self-esteem -Develop skills and potential -Improve happiness, health and wellbeing - Increase independence - Provide choice and encourage participation through creative expression - Provide much needed respite to families and carers - Break down the issues of social exclusion.

    Solution

To achieve these aims we run a wide range of workshops in woodwork, ceramics, textiles, print, mixed media, drama and music, 5 days per week, 50 weeks a year, in our fully accessible studios. We arrange regular trips out to theatres and museums to explore art and culture further and we create pieces of art for the local community, which encourages participation and social inclusion. In 2020 we launched our new forest school project to enable students to better engage and connect with nature.
